COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
September 13, 2006 - 3 p.m.

I. Call to Order. The meeting was called to order by City Manager Eric M. Soroka.
City Clerk Teresa M. Soroka called the roll.

Mr. Soroka discussed the Sunshine and Public Records Laws and distributed Financial
Disclosure Statements for completion by new members.
II. Selection of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. A motion to appoint Mr.
Pyott as Chairperson was offered by Ms. Israel, seconded by Ms. Cohen and
unanimously passed. A motion to appoint Ms. Israel as Vice Chairperson was offered
by Mr. Pyott, seconded by Mr. Evans and unanimously passed.
III. Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of the May 11, 2006
meeting was offered by Ms. Israel, seconded by Ms. Cohen and unanimously passed.
III. Chairperson's Report: Mr. Pyott discussed the future meetings schedule,
noting that meetings were generally scheduled on the third Thursday of each month. It
was the consensus of the Board to continue that schedule and the next meetings
scheduled were October 19,2006 and November 16, 2006, both at 3 p.m.
IV. Staff Reports: Mr. Soroka updated the Board on Waterways Park, the Library
Renovation, temporary Library and the proposed Performing Arts Center. Mr. Sherman
provided information regarding summer camp enrollment, classes at the Community
Recreation Center, Founders Day, Cultural Arts, Theater, and Leisure Programs
schedule and the resumption of the Beautification Recognition Program.
V. Old Business: None
VI. New Business: None.
VII. Adiournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, after
motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, the meeting was adjourned at 3:30
p.m.

consideration. All entries must be postmarked bv 5:00 p.m. on Februarv 18.2005 to be eligible. All
entries shall be addressed to: Beautification Recognition Awards Program, Aventura Government
Center, 19200 West Country Club Drive, Aventura, FL 33180; and must be accompanied by a narrative
(100 words max.) explaining the details of the applicants beautification efforts, including photos if
desired, and signed by the applicant. Property category MUST be checked or the application will be
returned without consideration. Properties may enter a maximum of two categories. Awards will be
presented on Friday, April 22, 2005 at the City's Arbor Day Ceremony.
The "Property of Excellence Beautification Recognition Award for 2004" will generally be awarded to one
property in each category. From time to time, the judges may award more than one winner in each category, at
their sole discretion. The decision of the judges will be final and are based on the following criteria:
1. Creativity. Special consideration will be given for unique environments.
2. Integration of landscape with natural features.
3. Establishment of a landscape theme.
4. Appropriateness of landscape material.
5. Maintenance and upkeep, general cleanliness.
6. Use of colors and textures in landscape.
Applicant agrees to permit judging panels to enter their property for appraisal purposes and agrees to

Petros Moschos and Dimitris Karydis
were born in Greece and became a piano
duo in 1997 while studying at the Royal
Academy of Music in London. They
perform regularly in Italy, Germany,
Greece, Czech Republic and the UK. The
duo has recorded for BBC Radio3 and the
Hellenic, Czech and Bavarian Radios.
They have won first prize in the XII
International Schubert Piano Duo
Competition, the XVI "V. Bellini"
International Piano-Duo Competition and
the "Rovere d'Oro International Music
Competition".

Anne Louise-Turgeon and Edward
Turgeon's European debut was at the
Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, and
they also have appeared at New York
Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall. They
received special prizes at the Dranoff,

performance of works for one piano,
four-hands, and a special award for best
performance of the commissioned work
"Chiaroscuro", by John Corigliano.
They are well known for their highly
rated CD, "Latin American Journey".
