Dear Mr. Berger and Cultural Arts Committee Members:
Aventura Dance Academy has been operating as a ballet school for the past
six years in the community and as the years have gone by, we have seen it grow
beyond our expectations.
Due to this fact, and to the new addition of our already highly qualified
staff, of Vladimir Issaev as our Ballet Master, whose experience with children and
young dancers is outstanding, we are contemplating the creation of a Junior
Company in the very near future. This will enable us to contribute to the culture of
the Aveotura area, which is very much a need for the community.
Once this group is organized (which we are presently in the process of
forming), we will be able to go out to the schools and organizations in the area to
give lecture-demonstrations and small performances, in addition to two or three
yeady productions in theaters.
To achieve this accomplishment, in addition to our work, efforts and
dedication, it is important to have the support from the community who feel an
inclination to promote the arts in Aventura.
Our immediate project is to present the 2nd Act of "The Nutcracker"
ballet, planned to be presented on December 14th at Barry University. By doing
this. we set the first stone towards mounting the complete Nutcracker Ballet in a
few years. which is the aspiration of every school or company and the dream of
every dancer. The Nutcracker has become a Christmas traditional ballet and
hundreds of dance companies proudly present it in December of every year. We
would also like to belong to that list of companies to bring art, disguised as a fairy
tale, to all the chiJd1-en of the Aventura area and to their parents.

Re: City of A ventura Recreation and Cultural Arts Advisory Board
Dear Bob:
I received your letter dated August 8, 1997 regarding meetings and attendance of the Recreation
and Cultural Arts Advisory Board. As a practicing attorney, I find myself\Ulable to attend the meetings
which are held in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday. I would be willing to attend meetings held
in the early morning (starting at 8:00 a .m. or 9:00 a.m.) or early. evenings (6:00 p.m.). If the meetings
are not rescheduled for those times, I unfortunately will not be able to attend. Although I would like
to serve out my tenn as a member of the Board who was appointed by Councilman Ken Cohen, I believe
that if the meetings are not rescheduled to accommodate the schedules of working members of the
Board, you will fail to attract not only the attendance but the ideas of those persons other than the retired
members that sit on the Board.
Please call me if you have any questions or comments. I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Very, truly yours,
~~yc; f{-
