Aventura Community Recreation Center Aventura, Florida 33180 I. Call to Order. The meeting was called to order by Sub-Committee Chair Shirlee Levin. Sub-Committee members present: Shirlee Levin Julie Israel Ginger Grossman Also present: Billy Joel Patricia Frank Lucy Kesharvez, City's Art Consultant, provided a visual presentation of artists for consideration by members. - It was the consensus of members to recommend the following to the Community Services Advisory Board: Ana Milena Tamara (YES) Thought of as one of the best 2 from entire selection Was good, attractive and used mixed media Naomi Eastman (YES) Irving Freedman (YES but only selected pieces) Ms. Grossman stated she doesn't like most of his work Ms. Israel stated the exhibition is for all artists, not just great ones Sandra Kalus (YES - stilllifes are better and the bathtub painting) Does oil on canvas Sandi Levy (YES) Seymore London (YES) Thought of as one of the best 2 from entire selection Parissienne / Left Bank pieces nice Water color and all liked detail of little building Robert Perinuzzi (YES but NOT Get off My Back or Eve) Work appears to express anger Stating age appropriate material William Watters (YES) Aventura Squirrel to be near the entrance Alicia Woodman (NO) Not in town Roslynd Messinger (YES) Frank Signorella (YES but ONLY Glory of Italy I Colored rain / Spring) Leonard Sunshine (YES) Cynthia Vogel (Yes but only 1 or 2) Does pastels and watercolor . Reception date for Sunday, December 7 to be combined with Community Recreation Center Open House for increased attendance . Sub-committee recommended the following themes for consideration by all Board members:: Exhibition 2: General theme (all media) Exhibition 3: Children of Aventura Exhibition 4: Photography . Ms. Levin to add media to her handout to be provided to all who come to view the exhibition. . - Location of walls to be determined by Consultant with advice from Shirlee Levin. II. Adiournment. Call to Order. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Patricia Frank. City Clerk Teresa M. Soroka called the roll. Members present: Patricia Frank Julie Israel Billy Joel Shirlee Levin Alberto Milian Marian Nesbitt Larry Orenstein Gary Pyott Michael Stern Members absent: Deborah Carr Manuel Grife Ginger Grossman Ms. Soroka informed the Board of Ms. Carr's resignation. Mr. Soroka informed the Board of Mr. Sturtz's resignation due to illness. II. Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of the September 11, 2003 and August 19, 2003 meetings was offered by Ms. Israel, and seconded by Ms. Nesbitt. The motion passed unanimously. A motion to excuse Mr. Stern's absence from the September 11, 2003 meeting was offered by Ms. Israel, seconded by Ms. Nesbitt and unanimously passed. III. Chairperson's Report: Ms. Frank recognized Ms. Levin, Chair of the Rotating Arts Sub-Committee who gave an update on the meeting of October 8, 2003. Mr. Sherman prepared and distributed a synopsis of the meeting. A motion to accept the report was offered by Ms. Israel, seconded by Mr. Joel and unanimously passed. IV. New Business: A motion to accept the Trips and Tours program was offered by Ms. Israel, seconded by Mr. Milian and unanimously passed. Mr. Sherman distributed and discussed Events Marketing Plan. Members commended Mr. Sherman and his staff on the plan. VII. The next meeting was scheduled for November 13, 2003 at 3 p.m. VIII. Adiournment.
