A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF AVENTURA, FLORIDA ADOPTING THE CITY
OF AVENTURA 2003 LEGISLATIVE PROGRAM AND
PRIORITIES ATTACHED HERETO; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO TAKE NECESSARY ACTION TO
CARRY OUT THE AIMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF AVENTURA, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City of Aventura 2003 Legislative Program and Priorities,
attached hereto, is hereby adopted.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to take all action necessary to
implement the purpose of this Resolution.
Section 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption hereof.
The foregoing Resolution was offered by Commissioner Rogers-Libert who
moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cohen, and upon
being put to a vote, the vote was as follows:

CITY OF AVENTURA
LEGISLATIVE PROGRAMS AND PRIORITIES
2003
This document is intended to provide direction to the City Manager, City Attomey and
Legislative Lobbyist as to the official City position regarding issues and pending
legislation which would affect the operation of local government. This document further
provides priorities for the acquisition of supplemental funding (grants) for various
programs.
The City of Aventura will endorse and support legislation that will:
Provide a dedicated revenue source for Charter School capital improvements at
the same levels provided to the local school boards.
Require insurers, reinsurers and the Florida Windstorm Underwriters Association
(FWUA) to set windstorm rates for residential and commercial properties based
upon wind speeds established in the State Uniform Building Code.
Provide for the coordinated and comprehensive efforts for statewide and local
security and anti-terrorist programs in conjunction with the Federal government.
Will not create revisions in municipal pension plans or State Statues that will
impose additional mandated financial obligations for municipalities.
5. Adopt the 2003 Policy Statement of the Florida League of Cities.
The City of Aventura will seek financial assistance and grants for the following
projects:
1. Funding for Stormwater drainage improvements.
2. Funding for Park development.
