99-007 RESOLUTION NO. 99-07
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF AVENTURA, FLORIDA URGING U.S.
SENATORS CONNIE MACK, BOB GRAHAM AND U.S.
REPRESENTATIVE E. CLAY SHAW TO EXPLORE THE
POSSIBILITY OF ESTABLISHING A NEW FULL SERVICE
POST OFFICE IN THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF THE
CITY OF AVENTURA; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Aventura is in need of a full-service post office to serve
its 20,000+ population; and
WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Aventura are limited to a small retail post
office facility in the northeastern most corner of the City for their postal needs; and
WHEREAS, residents must travel into the next County to pick up mail not
delivered by the United States Post Office, at great constraints in particular to
residents, many of whom are elderly, in the southern portion of the City, due to traffic
congestion and its potential negative effect on residents' health, safety and welfare
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF AVENTURA, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. This City Commission urges U. S. Senators Connie Mack, Bob
Graham and U. S. Representative E. Clay Shaw to act in its behalf and explore the
possibility of establishing a full service postal facility in the southern portion of the City
of Aventura.

The foregoing Resolution was offered by Commissioner Rogers-Libert ,
who moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
Peri.ow , and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows:
