AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AVENTURA, FLORIDA;
AMENDING THE CITY CODE BY AMENDING CHAPTER 14
"BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS" BY
AMENDING SECTION 14-62 "REGISTRATION" TO
PROVIDE FOR DATE FOR ANNUAL RENEWAL OF
CONTRACTOR REGISTRATION; AND TO CLARIFY
REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS TO CONFORM TO
FLORIDA STATE STATUTES; PROVIDING FOR
INCLUSION IN CODE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has, pursuant to Ordinance No. 96-28 and as
amended by Ordinance 97-26, provided for registration requirements for Building
Contractors; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of further amending certain provisions
of Chapter 14, "Buildings and Building Regulations", Article III, "Building Contractors".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF AVENTURA, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That Article III, "Building Contractors", of Chapter 14 "Buildings and
Building Regulations" of the City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:~
Section 14-62. Registration.
All contractors performing work within the municipal
boundaries of the City, or who have made application for
building permits from the City, shall be required to register
annually with the City. All such contractors shall register with
the City Community Development Department at the time of
the renewal of their occupational license or within seven days
thereof, or prior to the application for a building permit,
whichever applies. Re,qistrations must be renewed annually
on or before September 30th for the following fiscal year.

Requirements for registration shall be as follows:
(1)...

~e~on 2. Severabili~. The provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be
severable and if any se~ion, senten~, clause or phrase of this Ordinan~ shall for any
reason be held to be invalid or un~nstitutional, su~ decision shall not affe~ the validi~ of
the remaining se~ions, senten~s, clauses, and phrases of this Ordinan~ but they shall
remain in effe~, it being the legislative intent that this Ordinan~ shall stand
no~thstanding the invalidity of any pa~.
Section 3. Inclusion in the Code. It is the intention of the Ci~ Commission, and it
is hereby ordained that the provisions of this Ordinan~ shall he.me and made a pa~ of
the Code of Aventura, Florida; that the se~ions ~ this Ordinan~ may be renumbered or
relettered to a~omplish such intentions; and that the ~rd "Ordinan~" shall be changed
to "Se~ion" or other appropriate ~rd.
~ection 4. Effective Date. This Ordinan~ shall be effe~ive immediately upon
adoption on se~nd reading.
