The meeting was called to order by Chairman Janet Laine at 10:00 a.m. Community Services Director Robert M. Sherman called the roll. Members present: Janet Laine Patricia Crook Barbara Brighton Irving Kanowitz Lenore Toby-Simmons Members absent: Randi Rapp Don Gustin Others present: Robert M. Sherman, Director of Community Services Commissioner Arthur Berger Commissioner Ken Cohen II. Approval of Minutes: After motion made by Mr. Kanowitz, seconded by Ms. Brighton and unanimously passed, the minutes of the October 23, 2000 meeting were approved. IV. Staff Report: (Taken out of order) A. Recap recent activities: Mr. Sherman updated Board on Veterans Day ceremony. Consensus of Board not to schedule Founders Day 2001 or any other activities on Sunday November 11, 2001 in observance of Veterans Day. Founders Day picnic scheduled for November 4, 2001. The Board discussed Founders Day and Founders Ball. Suggested larger area for VIPs and that volunteers be more relaxed and courteous in their assistance. Board discussed next year's Ball and, at the suggestion of Commissioner Cohen, the possibility of a charitable event. Commissioner Berger requested alternative concepts be discussed. To be discussed further at January Board meeting. schedule. Winter program schedule. Mr. Sherman reviewed the winter program Ill. Chairman's Report: Cultural Center Study presentation by Richard J. Heisenbottle. Mr. Heisenbottle and his staff made a powerpoint presentation to the Board as a follow-up on the status of this study.
