02-02-1998CITY OF AVENTURA BEAUTIFICATION ADVISORY BOARD SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING FEBRUARY 2, 1998 10 A.M. AVENTURA GOVERNMENT CENTER 2999 NE 191sT STREET SUITE 500 AVENTURA, FLORIDA The meeting was called to order by Community Services Director Robert M. Sherman at 10:00 a.m. and he called the roll. Those present were Sub-Committee members Patty Robinson, Jan/ce Albin and Fanny Fraynd Singer. Also present were Mr. Sherman, City Clerk Teresa M. Smith and Councilmember Arthur Berger. Members discussed implementation of a Beautification Awards program within the City to recognize individuals and businesses for their efforts in beautification. Categories for award included: 1) Residential: single family, townhouse, Iow-rise (up to 5 stories) and high rise; 2) Commercial: mall/retail/banks, industrial, service stations and office/professional; 3) Community facilities: hospitals and schools; and 4) Most improved in each of the previous categories. Mr. Sherman to discuss such a proposed program with Landscape Architect William O'Leary and report back to the Beautification Advisory Board at the February 17, 1998 meeting. He suggested that, if feasible, the program be kicked-off on Arbor Day, with awards made during Founders Day celebrations.
