ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

I. Call to Order. The meeting wes celled to order by Ms. Demming at 1 p.m. and she
celled the roll:

II. Approval of Minutes. A motion to approve the minutes of the April 22, 1997
meeting wes offered by Ms. Laine, seconded by Mr. Kanowitz and unanimously
passed.
III. Chairman's Report. None.
IV. Staff Report. Mr. Sherman reviewed the Action Plan of Programs and Events for
July - December, 1997. A motion for approval wes offered by Ms. Laine, seconded
by Mr. Kanowitz and unanimously passed, 4-0. Mr. Sherman then explained the
Program/Trip Evaluation to be utilized after each event for input from participants. A
motion for approval wes offered by Mr. Kanowitz, seconded by Ms. Laine and
unanimously passed, 4-0.
V. Other Business. Ms. Laine suggested that we exhibit the artwork of school age
children who reside in Aventura in the halls of Government Center. After discussion
by Board members, a motion wes offered by Ms. Laine, seconded by Mr. Kanowitz
and unanimously passed, 4-0, that staff be directed to research the possibility of
exhibiting artwork of school age children residing in Aventura in coordination with
Founders Day celebrations and that the subject matter of the artwork be the people
of Aventura.
Councilmember Berger announced that a sub-committee of Council would be
meeting on July 2, 1997 at 3 p.m. to discuss the formation of an historical society
and welcomed all members to attend.
VI. Adjournment. There being no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at
2:10 p.m.
