THE CITY OF AVENTURA OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: City Commission 2001 Legislative Funding Request Proposals The following represents a summary of the Legislative funding request proposals for the 2001 session: NE 30 Avenue Draina.qe Improvement Project The City of Aventura is requesting assistance in the amount of $1,000,000 to implement necessary stormwater drainage improvements in the subject area. This funding would go towards the removal of existing inferior drainage systems and the installation of a new system that meets State and County standards for surface water quality and stormwater collection. This is a continuation of the stormwater improvement component of the City's 5-year Capital ImprovementsProgram, which received State funding last year. It is also a vital component of the City's Stormwater Master Plan. Procurement of Emer.qency Hydraulic Pumps and Generator The City of Aventura is requesting assistance in the amount of $38,816.20. This funding will allow the City to procure portable hydraulic pumps and electric generators for use in hazard mitigation and emergency operations. Currently, the City does not own any such equipment. After the October 3rd flood event, we realize the importance of having such equipment in our possession. Drainaqe Studies and Implementation Plans for Flood Prone Districts The City of Aventura is requesting assistance in the amount of $80,000. This funding will allow the City to hire consultants to conduct drainage studies and provide an implementation plan to resolve flooding and water quality issues in the Biscayne Lake Gardens and Aventura Hospital Districts. This is a continuation of the stormwater improvement component of the City's 5-year Capital Improvement Program, which received State funding last year. It is also a vital component of the City's Stormwater Master Plan. Emerqenc¥ Operations Center at Aventura Government Center The City of Aventura is requesting assistance in the amount of $100,000 to develop an Emergency Operations Center in the new Aventura Government Center. This funding would go towards the purchase of necessary equipment including technology, furnishings and communications equipment.
