COMMISSION WORKSHOP MEETING
OCTOBER 11, 2005
Following 6 p.m. LPA and Commission Meetings
Aventura Government Center

CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by Mayor Susan
Gottlieb immediately following the 6 p.m. Local Planning Agency and Commission
Meetings. Present were Commissioners Zev Auerbach, Bob Diamond, Harry Holzberg,
Michael Stern, Luz Urbaez Weinberg, Vice Mayor Billy Joel, Mayor Gottlieb, City
Manager Eric M. Soroka, City Clerk Teresa M. Soroka, and City Attorney David M.
Wolpin. As a quorum was determined to be present, the meeting commenced.
2. WATERWAYS PARK UPDATE (Citv Manaqer): (Taken out of order) Mr. Soroka
presented a layout of the proposed park. He requested input from the Commission
as to the installation of a gate, manned or not, and a non-resident fee charge for use
of the park.
CITY MANAGER SUMMARY: Consensus to proceed using manned gate and
requesting proof of Miami-Dade County residency.
3. CHARTER REVISION COMMISSION: Mr. Soroka noted that the Charter provides
for review every 5 years, he explained the process for selection of members, and the
process of the review.
CITY MANAGER SUMMARY: Consensus that Leonard Brenner, a member of the
previous Charter Commission, and former City Commissioner Manny Grossman be
selected. City Commission to meet prior to the November 1, 2005 meeting to review
resumes of other interested individuals. Members to be confirmed at the November
1, 2005 Commission meeting.
1. SHUTTLE BUS: Commission viewed a powerpoint presentation showing the
current level of services of the City's shuttle bus program and anticipated
improvements for expansion in March 2006. Commissioner Auerbach expressed his
concerns and ideas regarding the shuttle bus program.
CITY MANAGER SUMMARY: Consensus to proceed with anticipated
improvements/expansion. Commissioner Auerbach to work with City Manager to
promote the use of the increased services in 2006.
