COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES
MAY 14, 2026
3:00 P.M.

I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 3:01 p.m. by Mr. Davidson as
Chair. The following Board members were present:
Bruce Davidson
Rocio Lopez Varela'
Donna Mairs
Marjorie Rosenblatt
Sherry Superfine
Absent: Joseph Lekach
Daniel Naim
Others present: Bryan Pegues, City Manager
Ellisa L. Horvath, MMC, City Clerk
Kimberly Merchant, Community Services Director
Jay R. Smith, Administrative Assistant
IL Public Comment: None.
III. Approval of Minutes March 19, 2026 Meeting: A motion to approve the minutes
of the March 19, 2026 meeting was offered by Ms. Superfine, seconded by Ms.
Rosenblatt, and unanimously passed.
IV. Staff Reports:
a. Review of Community Recreation Center Showcase Plan: Ms. Merchant
provided an update on the Community Recreation Center Showcase, scheduled for May
31, 2026 at the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center, with the theme "through the decades."
'Ms. Lopez Varela arrived at 3:06 p.m. during the discussion of the Senior "Pop -Up" Event Plan.

b. Review and Approval of the Senior "Pop -Up" Event Plan: Ms. Merchant
facilitated a discussion amongst Board Members to schedule the events at several of the
Senior Centers in the City. Consensus was provided to schedule events at the Vi on
August 17, 2026, the Belmont and the Sterling on August 21, 2026, and Point East at a
date to be determined.
A motion to approve the Senior "Pop -Up" Event Plan was offered by Ms. Rosenblatt,
seconded by Ms_ Mairs, and unanimously approved.
V. Next Meeting Date: The next meeting scheduled for September 24, 2026 at 3:00
p.m. was confirmed.
V1. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, a
motion to adjourn was offered by Ms. Rosenblatt, seconded by Ms. Superfine, and
unanimously passed; thereby adjourning the meeting at 3:15 p.m.
