COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES
NOVEMBER 13, 2025
3:00 P.M.

I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 3:04 p.m. by Mr. Davidson. The
following members were present. -
Bruce Davidson
Joseph Lekach
Daniel Naim
Marjorie Rosenblatt
Sherry Superfine
Rocio Lopez Varela
Absent: Donna Mairs
Others present: Bryan Pegues, City Manager
Kimberly Merchant, Community Services Director
Arleen Llanes, Executive Assistant to the City Clerk
Jay R. Smith, Administrative Assistant
II. Public Comment: None.
III. Approval of Minutes -- September 25, 2025 Meeting: A motion to approve the
minutes of the September 25, 2025 meeting was offered by Mr. Lekach, seconded by Ms_
Rosenblatt, and unanimously passed.
IV. Staff Reports:
• Review of Fall Events: Board Members discussed the success of the Founders
Day Event and recognized the efforts of Ms. Merchant. Ms. Merchant provided an
overview of the following recent events: Halloween Movie Night Double Feature,
Halloween Event at the Community Recreation Center, Founders Day Event, and
Veterans Day Ceremony_

• Review of U comin Events: Ms. Merchant provided an overview of the
upcoming Winter Wonderland Event scheduled for December 4, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. A brief
overview was provided for the event to be held at Government Center.
• Review and Approval of Spread the Love" Event: Ms. Merchant reviewed the
Valentine's Day flower distribution event known as Spread the Love," which the City has
hosted at the two schools in prior years. Since Valentine's Day in 2026 falls on a Saturday,
the event will be scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026. The Board discussed
distributing both red and black roses at the schools, since the event would fall on Friday
the 13t'. A motion to hold the event on February 13, 2026 at the two schools and to
distribute both red and black roses was offered by Mr. Lekach, seconded by Ms. Lopez-
Varela, and unanimously passed.
V. Discussion of Next Meetin Date — January 29 2026: It was the consensus of
the Board to schedule the next meeting for January 29, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.
Vll. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, a
motion to adjourn was offered by Ms. Superfine, seconded by Mr. Naim, and unanimously
passed; thereby adjouming the meeting at 3:18 p.m.

Go Green recognition plaques are awarded based on the content of each application and can be awarded to more
than one property in each category. Judges decisions are final and based on the applicant's information.
All entries must be accompanied by a written narrative (100 words max.) explaining the details of the applicant's
efforts including any photos and must be signed by the applicant. Please ensure all entries are thoroughly
completed upon submission as incomplete entries will not be considered.
Entries must be submitted electronically. Please fill out this form in its entirety, attach all supporting documents, and
email it to LeivaM@cityofaventura.com by 5 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026.
Awards will be presented at the City of Aventura Earth Day/Arbor Day Ceremony on Friday, April 24, 2026.
The applicant agrees to allow the judging panel access to the property for appraisal purposes and agrees to
prominently display all awards on their property. For more information, please contact the Community Services
