Aventura Government Center 19200 West Country Club Drive Aventura, FL 33180 I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 3:02 p.m. by Mr. Naim. The following members were present: Bruce Davidson Sandra Kaplan Donna Mairs Daniel Naim Jesse Potack Sherry Superfine Absent: Marjorie Rosenblatt Others present: Bryan Pegues, City Manager Ellisa L. Horvath, MMC, City Clerk Kimberly Merchant, Community Services Director II. Public Comment: None. III. Approval of Minutes — October 30, 2024: A motion to approve the minutes of the October 30, 2024 meeting was offered by Ms. Mairs, seconded by Mr. Davidson, and unanimously passed. IV. Staff Reports: a. Review of Completed Special Events: Ms. Merchant provided a review of the completed special events including Founders Day (November 9), Veterans Day Ceremony (November 11), Winter Wonderland (December 4) and the Concert Series (January 26). b. Review of Upcoming Events: Ms. Merchant provided a review of the upcoming special events including Spread the Love Event and Parents Night Out (February 14), Go Green Applications Due (February 21), Aventura 5K (March 2), Movie City of Aventura Community Services Advisory Board Meeting Minutes January 30, 2025 Nights (March 15 and April 5), Volunteer Dinner (April 9), and Earth Day/Arbor Day Ceremony (April 25). c. Discussion of "Spread the Love" Pop -Up Event: Ms. Merchant provided an overview of the upcoming February 14, 2025 "Spread the Love" Event on Valentine's Day with the distribution of roses to drivers in the drop-off lines at the two Aventura Charter Schools. d. Discussion of Future Pop -Up Events: Ms. Merchant discussed bringing back the National Seniors Day Event (August 21 — times/locations to be determined) and the National Ice Cream Day Event at Founders Park (July 20 at 11 a.m.). A motion to approve scheduling a National Ice Cream Day Event at Founders Park (July 20 at 11 a.m.). and a National Seniors Day Event (August 21 — times/locations to be determined) was offered by Ms. Kaplan, seconded by Ms. Superfine, and unanimously passed. V. Discussion of Next Meeting Date: It was the consensus of the Board that the next meeting be scheduled for Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 3.00 p.m. in the Executive Conference Room of the Aventura Government Center. VI. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, a motion to adjourn was offered by Ms. Mairs, seconded by Ms. Kaplan, and unanimously passed; thereby adjourning the meeting at 3.15 p.m. Approved by the Board on April 3, 2025. Bellini Condominium • Recycling program/initiatives. • Improved landscape maintenance with automated irrigation. • Paperless for resident accounts and documents to promote sustainability. One Island Place • Emergency Exit Signs and Light Fixtures in Mechanical Rooms were replaced with more energy efficient ones. • HVAC was replaced with a more efficient one in 3 locations. • Condensate return water, now the condensate for our cooling towers recycles itself into the cooling towers (instead of into a drain). • Recycling program/initiatives and has a strong partnership with recycling partner. • Impact Windows Installed in Gatehouse to help reduce electricity usage. • Waste Management supplies the property with Educational Posters which are placed up in each garbage area. • Motion sensor lighting throughout property with LED lighting energy. • Two charging stations for electrical cars. • Supports environmental sustainability through water conservation. Point East Four Condominium Corporation, Inc • reoriented our sprinkler system to better water a broader swarth of grassland. • continuing basis we review with our building maintenance and porter staff the products they use are nontoxic and environmentally sensitive. • updated our extensive number parking areas with energy efficient high intensity lights for safety and energy concerns. • worked on educating all our residents to the benefit of respecting our grounds and plantings. Porto Vita Property Owner's Association • Human Resources and Spa Departments are two of our property -wide departments closing in on their goals of 100% paperless document storage. • We continued to minimize plastic use with employee and resident water refill stations and have saved thousands of bottles from landfills since their inception. • The cleaning supplies continue to feature more bio-degradable items like "ECO GRIP". • We participate in a cardboard recycling program to redirect recyclable materials from the landfill. • Reuse & repurpose much of our special event materials which benefits our bottom line as well as our local landfills. • The spa boutique is connecting our residents to many sustainably sourced products, while our spa locker and lounge teams use less plastic and more disposables from eco-conscious vendors. • The HVAC system uses VFD's to cool the club with much less energy. • Almost all lighting has been converted to low watt LED's throughout the property. • Charging stations for electrical cars. • Alternative fuels/energy conservation practices.
