CALL TO ORDER
• Pursuant to public notice, the meeting commenced at 4:45 p.m. with a Call to Order by Chair
Michael Yavner. Roll Call was taken, and quorum established.
ADMINISTRATIVE
Meeting Minutes Approval
• The Board reviewed the meeting minutes from the January 6, 2022 Don Soffer Aventura
High School Advisory Board ("DSAHSAB") meeting.

MOTION: Motion was made by Nikki Shone and seconded by Jorge Garcia to approve the Don Soffer
Aventura High School Advisory Board January 6, 2022 Meeting Minutes, as presented. Motion was
approved unanimously. (5-0, 0 absent)
II. CSUSA REPORTS
Principal Report
• Principal McKee presented his school report to the Advisory Board which included a
presentation for Valedictorian/Salutatorian requirements to the Aventura Governing
Board. CSUSA has a Valedictorian and Salutatorian requirement for other CSUSA managed
high schools, however, it is the decision of the governing board. The Governing Board
requested a plan to be developed and presented. The Advisory Board, City Manager Ron
Wasson, and Commissioner Dr. Marks discussed the various requirements to be
appointed Valedictorian and Salutatorian. Principal McKee will present to the Governing
Board at the April meeting for approval.

• The Advisory Board also discussed master scheduling, enrollment policies, and the Class
of 2026 Enrollment as well as the eligibility requirements in Math and partnering with
ACES (Aventura City School of Excellence) to ensure that incoming Freshman are prepared
and meet the class requirements for entrance into Don Soffer Aventura High School.

V. PUBLIC COMMENTS
• Ethan Bazak, a Junior at Don Soffer Aventura High School addressed the Board and
shared that COVID has made it difficult to get into Algebra I, and there is a concern on
losing out on Algebra I due to the past two years of schooling being conducted online.
• Female Student addressed the Board and suggested that GPA for Valedictorian and
Salutatorian be calculated after 2"d semester of senior year.
