CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to public notice, the meeting commenced at 4:33 p.m, with a Call to Order by Chair Michael
Yavner. Roll Call was taken, and quorum established.
I. ADMINISTRATIVE
Approval of Don Soffer Aventura High School Advisory Board Meeting Minutes for May 11, 2022
• The Board reviewed the meeting minutes from the May 11, 2022, Don Soffer Aventura High
School Advisory Board ("DSAHS AB") meeting.
MOTION: Motion was made by Jorge Garcia and seconded by Nikki Shein to approve the Don Soffer
Aventura High School Advisory Board May 11, 2022, Meeting Minutes, as presented. Motion was
approved unanimously. (4-0, 1 absent).
II. CSUSA REPORTS
Principal Report
• Principal McKee updated the board on school opening and introduced his new Assistant
Principal.
• Principal McKee reviewed the enrollment numbers with the board and informed that they are
at 810 students enrolled now which is 4 more that targeted with 185 being seniors.
o Testing highlights document reviewed during the board meeting will be emailed to all
board members.
• Board Chair Michael Yavner inquired about the Free and Reduced lunch that Miami Dade is
offering to all schools and was informed that because of the way FRL is calculated, Don Soffer
Aventura High School does not qualify.
• Principal McKee presented the board with the FSA Assessments Data Analysis for the school
and the 2022 Spring Survey Results which were both very positive with the school earning an
"A" grade for the FY22 school year.

There were not Financials.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
Reunification Plan
• The Advisory Board reviewed the Reunification Plan for Don Soffer Aventura High School
and Deputy Director Rachel Windler-Freitag shared with the board information regarding
the plan. All questions were answered by Mrs. Windier -Freitag and Dr. McKee.
V. NEW BUSINESS
There was no New Business.
VI. PUBLIC COMMENTS
• Parent Diane Gleit shared with the board her concerns regarding the school bathrooms
clogging up.
• Parent Gimol Bentes shared with the board her concerns regarding the issues with the 9tn
Grade buses and websites and technology not working properly and inquired about the new
field turf.
o Assistant City Manager Bryan Pegues shared with the board that the soccer and flag
football will be relocating to close by sites and will be finished in 8 to 12 weeks.
VII. ADJOURMENT
MOTION: Motion made by Jorge Garcia and seconded by Nikki Shein to adjourn the September 1, 2022
