Aventura Government Center 19200 West Country Club Drive Aventura, FL 33180 I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 3:01 p.m. by Mr. Naim. The following members were present: Sandra Kaplan Daniel Naim Marjorie Rosenblatt Sherry Superfine Absent: David Pulver Others present: Ronald J. Wasson, City Manager Bryan Pegues, Assistant City Manager Kimberly Merchant, Community Services Director Arleen Llanes, Executive Asst. to the City Clerk Jay R. Smith, Admin. Asst. Community Services Dept. II. Public Comment: None. III. Approval of Minutes — October 13, 2022: A motion to approve the minutes of the October 13, 2022 meeting was offered by Ms. Rosenblatt, seconded by Ms. Kaplan, and unanimously passed. IV. City Manager Reports: Mr. Wasson reported on the success of the Winter Wonderland Event and discussed possible modifications for next year's event. The Board provided positive feedback on the event. V. Staff Reports: a. Program and Events Report: Ms. Merchant reported on the wide array of activities offered at the City's parks and the Community Recreation Center, noting the dramatic increase in enrolment throughout all the programs. An overview of planned events through the end of April 2023 was also provided. City of Aventura Community Services Advisory Board Meeting Minutes December 8, 2022 b. Go Green Application Approval: Ms. Merchant reviewed the Go Green Award Application as provided in the agenda, which will be provided in a digital format when it is released. A motion to approve the application as presented was offered by Ms. Rosenblatt, seconded by Ms. Superfine, and unanimously passed. c. "Pop Up" Event Ideas Discussion: Ms. Merchant proposed that the Board distribute flowers again on Valentine's Day in February 2023 at the Don Soffer Aventura High School (DSAHS) and the Aventura City of Excellence School (ACES) as was done in 2022. Consensus was provided by the Board to proceed with the Valentine's Day flower distribution event on February 14, 2023. Board members discussed ideas for future "pop-up" events including the possibility of one directed towards senior citizens. This item will be placed on the next meeting agenda for discussion. Mr. Wasson reported to the Board on upcoming projects in the City's parks. The next meeting was tentatively scheduled for March 1, 2023 at 10.00 a.m. in the Executive Conference Room. VI. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, a motion to adjourn was offered by Ms. Rosenblatt, seconded by Ms. Kaplan, and unanimously passed; thereby adjourning the meeting at 3.35 p.m. Approved by the Board on March 1, 2023. Replaced all our garage light fixtures w/new LED bulbs. Replaced all interior lighting throughout our building with new Led bulbs. Installed Aqua Mizer toilet systems in all of our residential toilets which prevents toilets from running while seasonal residents are away. Installed the Total Leak System (3 sensors) in all of our residential units and throughout our common areas that notifies our Front Desk in real time the location of the leak. Recycling program for dour residents. Installed VFD's(Variable Frequency Drives)throughout our building which controls the amount of A/C water that is being pumped based on demand. Individuals heat pump actuators communicate directly with VFD's telling them when A/C's are not in use. Installed four electric charging stations for residents. Turned our dilapidated three hole chip and putt course into a Passive Park. 7000 Island Blvd Installed timers on the lights in all equipment rooms Installation of LED lights in all common areas of the building Installed 18 electrical vehicle charging stations Aventura Lakes Homeowners'Association Duct cleaning to AC Systems and Ventilation System Replaced fountain electric control panel Pool heat pumps with new energy saving units Clubhouse and Pool Deck area had LED bulbs All mailbox light fixtures have been retrofitted 2 Lake Fountains have new control systems/motors that are more productive and use less electricity Adjusted the sprinkler time clocks to be more efficient and reduce the amount of time the system is running Recycling Program for all Residents Added artificial turf around the pool area One Island Place Emergency Exit Signs and Light Fixtures in Mechanical Rooms were replaced with more efficient ones HVAC was replaced with a more efficient one in 3 locations Recycling Program,eblast to all residents remind them to recycle Install impact windows at the gatehouse LED lighting Electrical car stations Paperless documents Page 11 2023 Go GREEN Applicants O Gre- Point East One Condominium Corporation, Inc. Inspecting and maintaining the white TPO roofs,to ensure that top floor resident's electrical bills remain low. Expanding plantings to provide more greenery on the property and replacing any plants or trees as needed. Replaced the submeters in the buildings,which necessitated checking the sprinkle lines and repairing any leaks. Keep tabs on the weather to conserve water and avoid using the sprinkles when not needed. Maintain an active recycling program in each building. Replaced the path lighting with LED bulbs. Point East Three Condominium Corporations,Inc. Energy efficient Silicone Roof Coatings in all buildings. Energy efficient flood lights in double head poles,yoke bracket, building walls and canopies. Energy efficient LED light bulbs in all buildings light fixtures. Water conservation practices,which include inspecting all the units for leaky faucets or toilets. Turn off water sprinklers during times when they are not necessary. Porto Vita Property Owner's Association Converted flameless candles throughout the Spa to use rechargeable batteries We are offering a new Reef Safe/green packaging SPF line at our pool and Spa Boutique. Human Resources and Spa Departments closed in on their goals of 100%paperless document storage Pay Check stubs for all 140 employees are now paperless as are all reviews and H.R.documentation POA documents into the Cloud to reduce paper use Continued to minimize plastic use with employee hot/cold water refill stations Staff restrooms now have sanitizing hot air hand dryers to end paper towel use We are now selling Porto Vita water bottles&coffee tumblers to minimize our single use beverage amenity supply. Minimize plastic bottle use with Resident water bottle refill stations Our upgraded fleet of"Golf"Carts are a higher yield electric cart with increased range Almost all lighting has been converted to low watt LED's Our HVAC system uses VFD's to cool the club with much less energy Our Poo Print animal waste deterrent program minimizes pet waste getting into the soil and waterways Minimizing plastic food service items and use bamboo stirrers and no straws unless requested. Our cleaning supplies continue to feature more bio-degradable items like"Simple Green" We participate in a cardboard recycling program to redirect recyclable materials from the landfill.
