April 6, 2022 Youth Advisory Board Meeting Minutes • YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES APRIL 6, 2022 5:30 P.M. Aventura Government Center 19200 W. Country Club Drive Aventura, FL 33180 The meeting was held in the 5th Floor Executive Conference Room at the Aventura Government Center. 1. Call to Order/Roll Call: The meeting was called to order at 5:34 p.m. by Ms. Taryn Shein. City of Aventura Youth Advisory Board Meeting Minutes April 6, 2022 2. Approval of Minutes — March 16, 2022: A motion to approve the March 16, 2022 meeting minutes was offered by Ms. Freitas, seconded by Mr. Bazak, and unanimously passed. 3. Discussion of Participation in City Events and Meetings: Ms. Horvath reported on the highlights of the April 51h City Commission Meeting, including the ceremony for the oath of office provided to newly elected Commissioner Billy Joel. Ms. Wesley and Ms. Shein were thanked for their assistance with the distribution of goody bags following the ceremony. Mr. Wasson and Mr. Bazak discussed additional items from the meeting. Members were reminded about the upcoming fishing trip with Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sally Heyman, scheduled for April 11th, which the City Manager would also be attending. 4. Discussion of"Aventura Strong" Project: Board members provided updates on the items worked on since the last meeting, including social media and networking. Following review and discussion of the update provided regarding the Krop art/graphic teacher (Mr. Rosenthal) for the production of cards for the project, it was the consensus of the Board to use the color purple on white cards, to be distributed with the strength stones. The City Manager will contact Mr. Rosenthal to confirm the items discussed by the Board. The Board continued discussions on the "Rebuild, Reignite, Reconnect" slogan for the project and the associated content for social media. Mr. Combrinck will review all items before they are posted by the Board members. Mr. Pegues reported on the next CSAB pop-up event that wouldn't be scheduled until July. He also provided the strength stones and bags that had been ordered, which were then viewed and discussed by the Board. Since there were no upcoming City events deemed to be appropriate to distribute the stones at, the Board discussed other options. It was the consensus of the Board to schedule a health walk on May 22nd to begin at Aventura Government Center and around the Don Soffer Exercise Trail and back to Government Center, with the distribution of the strength stones at the completion of the walk. The Board discussed providing a presentation on the project at the May 12th City Commission Meeting. It was the consensus of the Board to divide responsibilities focused on the presentation for the May 12th Commission Meeting (6:00 p.m.) and the May 22nd Health Walk (9-11 a.m.). Goals for the next meeting were discussed based on the following two groups: Commission Meeting Presentation Group and Healthy Walk Tour Group. No public comments were provided. 5. Other Business: The next meeting was scheduled for April 28, 2022 at 5.30 p.m. 6. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, a motion to adjourn the meeting was offered by Ms. Freitas, seconded by Ms. Baredes, and unanimously passed; thus, adjourning the meeting at 6.28 p.m. •' Ellisa L.
