DON SOFFER AVENTURA HIGH SCHOOL
MINUTES
OCTOBER 2, 2018 — 7:15 P.M.
A Community Information Session was held by Charter Schools USA, regarding the new
Don Soffer Aventura High School, scheduled to open in August 2019. The session was
held on October 2, 2018 in the Commission Chambers at Aventura Government Center
(19200 W. Country Club Drive, Aventura, FL) at 7:00 p.m.
The following members of the Commission were present: Mayor Enid Weisman, Vice
Mayor Gladys Mezrahi, Commissioner Denise Landman, Commissioner Dr. Linda Marks,
Commissioner Marc Narotsky, Commissioner Robert Shelley, and Commissioner Howard
Weinberg. Interim City Manager Joanne Carr, City Clerk Ellisa L. Horvath, and City
Consultant Eric M. Soroka were also present.
Mr. Soroka provided opening remarks and introduced the City Commission and those in
attendance from Charter Schools USA.
Mr. David McKnight, Charter Schools USA, provided a review of the school via a
PowerPoint presentation.
A brief question and answer session was held following the presentation.
The session ended at 8:00 p.m.
