ETHICS TRAINING SESSION MINUTES
OCTOBER 21, 2021
Following 9:00 a.m. Special Commission Meeting and Commission Workshop
An ethics training session for members of the City of Aventura Commission, pursuant to
the requirements of Chapter 112.3142, Florida Statutes, was held on October 21 , 2021
at 11 .20 a.m. in the 5th Floor Executive Conference Room at the Aventura Government
Center (19200 W. Country Club Drive, Aventura, FL). The following members of the
Commission were in attendance: Mayor Enid Weisman, Vice Mayor Dr. Linda Marks,
Commissioner Jonathan Evans, Commissioner Rachel S. Friedland, Commissioner
Denise Landman, Commissioner Marc Narotsky', and Commissioner Robert Shelley.
Also present were City Manager Ronald J. Wasson, City Clerk Ellisa L. Horvath and City
Attorney Robert Meyers.
Mr. Meyers reviewed a presentation titled "Ethics Training : State and County Ethics Laws
for the City of Aventura's Elected Officials," dated October 21 , 2021 , covering the
following items: Voting Conflicts, Misuse — Campaign Activities, Misuse of Position,
Exploitation of Official Position, Disproportionate Benefits, Gifts, Gifts Exceptions,
Unauthorized Compensation, Doing Business with Agency, Miami-Dade County Code
Sections 2.11 .1(c) and (d), Waiver, Conflicting Employment, Contractual Relationships,
Dual Employment, Disclosure/Use of Information, Financial Disclosure, Other Laws,
Lobbying, Ethics Enforcement, Florida Commission on Ethics, and Florida Ethics Laws
for Public Officials.
Members of the Commission engaged in discussions with Mr. Meyers throughout the
session, based on the material covered.
The training session adjourned at 1 .10 p.m.
