"NIIIIINUPP, i- AVENTURA ART IN PUBLIC PLACES ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES MARCH 15, 2021 10:30 a.m. Virtual Meeting Via Video Conferencing The meeting was held via video conferencing through Zoom, as specified on the meeting public notice and agenda, as a result of the continued COVID-19 state of emergency. 1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by Mr. Wasson at 10:33 a.m. The roll was called and the following members were present: Adriana Lerner Adelson Helen Chaset Marina Kessler Miles Kuttler Marina Wecksler Also Present: Ronald J. Wasson, City Manager Ellisa L. Horvath, MMC, City Clerk 2. SELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON AND VICE -CHAIRPERSON: A motion to select Adriana Adelson to serve as Chairperson was offered by Ms. Chaset, seconded by Ms. Kessler, and unanimously passed. A motion to select Marina Kessler to serve as Vice Chairperson was offered by Ms. Adelson, seconded by Ms. Chaset, and unanimously passed. The Board members each provided brief information on their backgrounds. 3. PUBLIC COMMENTS: None. 4. DONATION OF AXIOM SCULPTURE: Mr. Wasson explained the proposed artwork offered as a donation by the Aventura Hospital. The Board discussion focused on the artwork created by a local artist, any expectations from the hospital or artist on the location, and inventory of available spaces within the City. It was the consensus of the Board that a review of the available spaces within the City first be conducted, prior to providing a recommendation on the donation. Aventura City Art in Public Places Advisory Board Meeting Minutes — March 15, 2021 5. OLD BUSINESS: None. 6. NEW BUSINESS: The Board discussed the possibility of requiring developers to create, place, or provide money for art in public places, which the City does not currently have a provision in place for. Board members and Mr. Wasson will research other municipalities that may have such a requirement in their Codes such as Sunny Isles Beach, Miami, Miami Beach, and Miami -Dade County, for discussion at the next meeting. The recent artwork by Romero Britto, at the Aventura City of Excellence School (ACES), was discussed. Mr. Wasson explained the process for the implementation of that exterior art and reported on plans to hopefully provide something at the Don Soffer Aventura High School (DSAHS). The Board requested that they be notified of future art projects within the City. A bus tour for the review of available spaces within the City for art was scheduled for March 24, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. The next regular Board meeting was scheduled for June 23, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. 7.
