May 10, 2021 Youth Advisory Board Meeting Minutes • YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES MAY 10, 2021 4:30 P.M. Virtual Meeting Via Video Conferencing The meeting was held via video conferencing through Zoom, as specified on the meeting public notice and agenda. 1. Call to Order/Roll Call: The meeting was called to order at 4:36 p.m. by the Chairperson, Ms. Sartan. City of Aventura Youth Advisory Board Meeting Minutes—May 10, 2021 2. Approval of Minutes: May 3, 2021 : A motion to approve the minutes of the May 3, 2021 meeting was offered by Ms. Freitas, seconded by Taryn Shein, and unanimously passed. 3. Discussion of Participation in City Events and Meetings: Mrs. Horvath noted that the Board should be prepared to provide the presentation on the Trader Joe's Project at the June 1 , 2021 City Commission Meeting at 6:00 p.m. Members were requested to continue sharing information on the upcoming car parade for high school seniors, as provided via email. Information on any upcoming participation and/or volunteer opportunities will be provided via email. Mayor Weisman provided brief remarks. 4. Discussion of Trader Joe's Project: Team members provided updates on the status of their items for the project as well as future goals as follows: Information Team: reported on additional information gained through contact with the broker for Trader Joe's and continued research. Presentation and Video Team: provided information on updates to the website, requested the graphs/charts for posting, continued work on the PowerPoint, and discussed testimonial videos. Social Media Team: discussed the videos posted for the "Takeovers" done on Tuesday and Thursday, requested the videos for the Information Team and the Survey & Community Outreach Team, and reported on the positive feedback received from followers. Survey & Community Outreach: discussed experience with interviewing people at local stores, discussed mostly voice memos recorded, and continued work on the graphs. The Board discussed posting or sharing other videos and the concept of members making individual videos if visiting a Trader Joe's store. Mr. Combrinck-Graham explained that members should only promote social media from an official site of Trader Joe's, which should be reviewed by him before posting, or something created by members. It was the consensus of the Board for Mr. Bazak to provide a brief outline of the survey with summary graphs to his contact at Trader Joe's, with a copy to Mr. Combrinck- Graham, as provided by Ms. Sartan. It was the consensus of the Board for the Information Team to invite the new Aventura Community Development Director, Keven Klopp, and an active developer to the next meeting for the members to gain more information for the project. Goals for the next meeting will be posted by Ms. Sartan. Other Business: It was the consensus of the Board to schedule the next meeting for May 17, 2021 at 6.00 p.m. at Government Center. Mrs. Horvath will provide the location of the meeting. 7. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, a motion to adjourn the meeting was offered by Megan Shein, seconded by Ms. Wesley, and unanimously passed; thus, adjourning the meeting at 5.17 p.m. Ellisa L.
