Virtual Meeting Via Video Conferencing
The meeting was held via video conferencing through Zoom, as specified on the meeting
public notice and agenda, as a result of the continued COVID-19 state of emergency.
1. Call to Order/Roll Call: The meeting was called to order at 4:34 p.m. by the
Chairperson, Ms. Sartan. The following were present:

Meeting Minutes—May 3, 2021
2. Approval of Minutes:
April 19, 2021 : A motion to approve the minutes of the April 19, 2021 meeting
was offered by Ms. Freitas, seconded by Taryn Shein, and unanimously passed.
3. Discussion of Participation in City Events and Meetings: Mrs. Horvath
reported that the next City Commission Meeting was scheduled for May 4, 2021 at 6:00
p.m. and would be in person at Aventura Government Center. Members were requested
to share the flyer with information on the upcoming car parade for high school seniors, as
provided via email. Information on any upcoming participation and/or volunteer
opportunities will be provided via email.
4. Florida League of Cities Youth Council Virtual Summit Feedback: Several
members provided positive feedback on the Florida League of Cities Youth Council
Summit they attended virtually on Saturday, May 1 , 2021 . Highlights included meeting
members of other youth councils, breakout rooms, and the PowerPoint presentation, with
encouraged participation in future summits.
5. Discussion of Trader Joe's Project: Team members provided updates on the
status of their items for the project as well as future goals as follows:
Information Team: reported on information gained through contact with the
broker for Trader Joe's, including details on what they require when looking for a new
site.
Presentation and Video Team: provided information on videos and other items
posted online, as well as provided to the Social Media Team.
Social Media Team: displayed videos received from the Social Media Team
and Presentation and Video Team. Requested the videos be submitted from the
Information Team and the Survey & Community Outreach Team. Discussed providing
weekly updates deemed as "Takeover Tuesdays" and possibly filming a TikTok video for
posting on Instagram.
Survey & Community Outreach: displayed three graphs depicting results of
residence of survey respondents, frequency of Trader Joe's visits, and primary grocery
stores visited. Another survey to include more specific questions will be worked on and
quotes will be composed from the survey results received for use on Instagram and other
posts.
Ms. Sartan will provide a brief verbal update on the Board's progress at the May 4, 2021
City Commission Meeting.
It was the consensus of the Board to provide the final presentation at the June 1 , 2021
City Commission Meeting.
Mr. Wasson will report back on the possibility of working on the project over the summer.

6. Other Business: It was the consensus of the Board to schedule the next meeting
for May 10, 2021 at 4.30 p.m.
7. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, a
motion to adjourn the meeting was offered by Ms. Freitas, seconded by Ms. Sartan, and
unanimously passed; thus, adjourning the meeting at 5.47 p.m.
