This meeting shall be held via virtual communications media technology as made necessary
by the continued state and local emergency. Because of the continued COVID-19 pandemic,
and the need to ensure the public health, safety and welfare, this meeting will be conducted
remotely via Zoom.
Due to the on-going state of emergency and the recommendations from all public health
authorities, the City of Aventura recommends that all persons view and participate in the

Virtual Meeting Via Video Conferencing
The meeting was held via video conferencing through Zoom, as specified on the meeting
public notice and agenda, as a result of the continued COVID-19 state of emergency.
1. Call to Order/Roll Call: The meeting was called to order at 4:38 p.m. by the Vice
Chairperson, Ms. Wesley. The following were present:

Meeting Minutes—April 5, 2021
2. Approval of Minutes:
March 26, 2021 : A motion to approve the minutes of the March 26, 2021
meeting was offered by Ms. Freitas, seconded by Ms. Baredes, and unanimously passed.
3. Discussion of Participation in City Events and Meetings: Mrs. Horvath briefly
discussed the brief presentation to be provided by the Board at the April 6, 2021 City
Commission Meeting, which will be discussed further during the project discussion item.
Information on any upcoming participation and/or volunteer opportunities will be provided
via email.
4. Discussion of Trader Joe's Project: Team members provided updates on the
status of their items for the project as follows:
• Information Team: PowerPoint presentation, location research, and contacting
Trader Joe's for general information
• Social Media Team: bio for the website and stories for posting on Instagram
• Survey & Community Outreach: website/in-person surveys and ideas for
distribution of flyer
• Presentation and Video Team: video and website updates
It was the consensus of the Board to proceed with the posting of the bio and Instagram
stories once reviewed by Mr. Combrinck-Graham. The Board members will provide all
documents, posts, etc. to Mr. Combrinck-Graham for review prior to proceeding.
Mr. Wasson and Mr. Combrinck-Graham clarified that any contact with Trader Joe's
should be limited to receiving general information from them. Once a final presentation is
presented and approved by the City Commission, it will be determined how to proceed at
that time.
The preliminary presentation to the Commission will include a brief verbal overview of the
project and general description of the items each team is working on. Each team will
provide bullet points for the presentation with a general overview of the items they are
working on.
It was the consensus of the Board for the Chair, Gabriela Sartan, to provide the brief
preliminary presentation to the City Commission at their April 6, 2021 meeting, with the
Vice Chair, Carolina Wesley, serving as back up should Ms. Sartan be unable to present.
Mayor Weisman and Commissioner Dr. Marks provided brief remarks.
The teams discussed their goals for the next meeting. Members were assigned to
distribute the flyer to different locations (schools, neighboring municipalities, City
newsletter, local stores, Aventura Mall, City email list, library, and Aventura Hospital).
Each team will provide a video of members stating their goals and the reason they want
Trader Joe's to come to Aventura.

5. Other Business: It was the consensus of the Board to schedule the next meeting
for April 19, 2021 at 4.30 p.m.
6. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, a
motion to adjourn the meeting was offered by Megan Shein, seconded by Mr. Avidan,
and unanimously passed; thus, adjourning the meeting at 5.51 p.m.
