This meeting shall be held via virtual communications media technology as made necessary
by the continued state and local emergency. Because of the continued COVID-19 pandemic,
and the need to ensure the public health, safety and welfare, this meeting will be conducted
remotely via Zoom.

COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 4, 2021
3:00 P.M.
Virtual Meeting Via Video Conferencing
The meeting was held via video conferencing through Zoom, as specified on the meeting
public notice, as a result of the continued COVID-19 state of emergency.
I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 3:09 p.m. by Mrs. Merchant.

II. Selection of Chair and Selection of Vice Chair: Following nominations for Mr.
Naim and Mr. Stern to serve as the Chair, it was the consensus of the Board for Mr. Naim
and Mr. Stern to alternate serving as Chair and Vice Chair at each meeting.
Mr. Naim served as Chair and Mr. Stern served as Vice Chair at this meeting.
III. Public Comment: None.
IV. Approval of Minutes — March 5, 2020: A motion to approve the minutes of the
March 5, 2020 meeting was offered by Ms. Kaplan, seconded by Ms. Superfine, and
unanimously passed.
V. City Manager Reports
a. Grant Submissions: Mr. Wasson provided an update on the grants
submitted for the parks, as well as information on pickle ball courts and tennis courts.

Members of the Board provided brief informational remarks about themselves.
VI. Staff Reports:
a. Programming Report: Mrs. Merchant provided information on the programs
running in compliance with the Miami-Dade County and COVID-19 guidelines.
b. Event Reports: Mrs. Merchant reported on the following upcoming items and
events: marketing for the 2021 Go Green Recognition Program and application process,
Movie Night (March 20th) with required reservation for a fee and socially distanced pods
provided, and high school graduation car parade with required registration. Mr. Stern
provided information on the prior year's car parade.
The following additional items were discussed: Don Soffer Aventura High School play at
the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center and possible broadcasting of it; and the current
COVID-19 vaccination requirements and the City not offering the vaccine due to liability
issues.
The next meeting was scheduled for April 8, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.
VI I. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, a
motion to adjourn was offered by Mr. Stern, seconded by Ms. Rosenblatt, and
unanimously passed; thereby adjourning the meeting at 3:53 p.m.

Cleaning supplies have been switched to bio-degradable such as Simple Green
Switched from plastic stirrers to bamboo stirrers
Participate in cardboard recycling program to redirect recyclable materials from the landfill

Recycling is picked up daily and sorted before placed in their assigned bins
Landscaping irrigation
Almost all products being used throughout the property are Green cleaning products
Removing all non-efficient lights and replacing them with LED lighting

Installed a new temperature sensor
Installed new air handler in existing location in new auxiliary drain

Removed paper towel dispensers and installed 6 Dyson Air blade hand dryers

Use 4 powerful UV lamps in order to make water disinfection as an alternative

Pelican Harbor Seabird Station -
A bird watch rescue committee comprised of staff and residents that help the injured birds. We
take them for treatment and care at Pelican Harbor and once healthy we release them back
onto the Island. This is part of our Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release program.
