YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 15, 2021
6:00 P.M.
Virtual Meeting Via Video Conferencing
The meeting was held via video conferencing through Zoom, as specified on the meeting
public notice and agenda, as a result of the continued COVID-19 state of emergency.
1. Call to Order/Roll Call: The meeting was called to order at 6:09 p.m. by the
Chairperson, Ms. Sartan. The following were present:

2. Approval of Minutes:
February 22, 2021 : A motion to approve the minutes of the February 22, 2021
meeting was offered by Ms. Wesley, seconded by Ms. Stein, and unanimously passed.
3. Discussion of Participation in City Events and Meetings: Mr. Wasson and Mrs.
Horvath thanked those members who attended the March 2, 2021 Commission Meeting.
Mrs. Horvath will provide information on any upcoming participation and/or volunteer
opportunities via email.
1 Alternate served as a voting member at this meeting.

4. Discussion of Projects:
Trader Joe's: Mr. Wasson reported on the City Code regarding any restrictions
on a location. It was also explained that the responsibilities for the project could be divided
amongst the members to work on.
Mr. Combrinck-Graham reviewed the members assigned to each of the following teams:
Information Team, Social Media Team, Presentation & Video Team, and Survey &
Community Outreach Team.
Mayor Weisman welcomed the students and thanked them for serving on the Board.
The Board provided ideas on the different items that should be addressed as part of the
project.
Following Board discussion, Mr. Combrinck-Graham clarified the assignments for each
team as follows:
• Information Team: reach out to Trader Joe's to identify any concerns with placing
a location in Aventura; set up a Zoom meeting with the Aventura Community
Development Director (Joanne Carr).
• Social Media Team: create Instagram account; create first post; and create a flyer
with QR Code to send to local schools and the community.
• Presentation and Video Team: create Google site; create an introduction video for
social media.
• Survey & Community Outreach: create Google survey for community; send
information to local schools with flyer created by Social Media Team; and take
testimonial videos of public for presentation.
It was the consensus of the Board to proceed with the assignments as outlined.
The teams will provide updates on the items that they have worked on at the next meeting.
5. Other Business: It was the consensus of the Board to schedule the next meeting
for Friday, March 26, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
6. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, a
motion to adjourn the meeting was offered by Ms. Freitas, seconded by Ms. Shein, and
unanimously passed; thus, adjourning the meeting at 7:33 p.m.
