MEMORANDUM
TO- City Commission
FROM- Ronald J. Wasson, City Manager ----M~
DATE- January 15, 2021
SUBJECT- Resolution Urging the Florida Governor to Amend Executive Order
20-315 to Include Teachers in the Phase One Covid-19 Vaccination
Distribution Plan Priority List
January 21, 2021 Special City Commission Meeting Agenda Item 2
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution Urging the
Florida Governor to Amend Executive Order 20-315 to Include Teachers in the Phase
One Covid-19 Vaccination Distribution Plan Priority List.
BACKGROUND
On December 23, 2020, Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-315
establishing a priority list of population groups eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine
during phase one of Florida's COVID-19 vaccination distribution plan. The Executive
Order's Vaccine Distribution Plan does not include teachers in the COVID-19
vaccination priority list. The City firmly believes that teachers should be included in the
phase one Vaccine Distribution Plan priority list since it is critical that our teachers
continue teaching students to ensure a highly educated population. The City
respectfully urges Florida Governor DeSantis to move quickly to amend Executive
Order 20-315 to include teachers in the phase one Vaccine Distribution Plan priority
list.
