MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 18, 2018 — 3:00 p.m.

I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 3:06 p.m. by Mr. Evans. The
following members were present:

It was announced that Brandon Stein was no longer a member of the Board as he had
moved out of the City.
Mrs. Grant introduced herself as the new City Manager.
II. Public Comment: The following members of the public provided comments:
Marjorie Rosenblatt {Mystic Pointe}.
III. Approval of Minutes — November 16, 2017: Mr. Evans requested that the
minutes be amended to include the Board's recognition of Mr. Soroka for all that he has
done for the Board, as well as the City.
A motion to approve the minutes of the November 16, 2017 meeting, as amended, was
offered by Mr. Naim, seconded by Mrs. Lotterman, and unanimously passed.
1V. Staff Reports:
a. Green Market: Mrs. Merchant reported on the decline of participating
vendors, due to the Green Market at the Aventura Mall. It was the consensus of the
Board to discontinue the Green Market.
b. GO Green Application: Mrs. Merchant distributed and reviewed the GO
Green Recognition Program Application and the annual process to recognize those
properties in the City that showed efforts to GO Green, based on several categories. It
was the consensus of the Board to approve the GO Green Application as submitted.

Mrs. Merchant noted that the GO Green awards would be presented at the City's Earth
Day/Arbor Day Ceremony on April 27, 2018.
It was the consensus of the Board that the winners also be announced at a
Commission meeting.
c. Upcoming Events: Mrs. Merchant reported on the following upcoming City
events: Ride with the Aventura Police (February 25) and Movie Night (March 3).
After a request by Mrs. Merchant and Board discussion, it was the consensus of the
Board to move the Movie Night in April from April 7 t to April 21St, due to Passover.
d. April 14 Jazz/Wine Event: Mrs. Merchant reviewed plans for the event
including food/beverage options and suggested that it start later, to coincide with the
sunset. It was the consensus of the Board for the event to start at 7:30 p.m. and to
provide upscale food such as pastries and cheese.
The Board discussed marketing options. Mrs. Merchant will report back on social media
marketing, as well as extending hours for the shuttle bus.
Mrs. Merchant will provide Mr. Evans with information on the upcoming events, so that
he can provide a report at the next Commission meeting.
Mrs. Merchant reported that the City's new banners have all been installed.
The next meeting was scheduled for March 12, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.
V. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, a
motion to adjourn was offered by Ms. Superfine, seconded by Mr. Naim, and
unanimously passed; thereby adjourning the meeting at 4:00 p.m.

Removed incandescent lights for florescent lights
Educated residents to change old water heaters and washing machines
Utilizes water conservation practices by installing Xeriscape landscaping in fountain
area and water-wise timer as well as rain sensor irrigation systems
Installed new energy efficient motors, pumps, variable speed drives and AC units to
replace the old units in common areas, such as bike rooms, hallways, and office
Installed a new energy efficient roof on the building and canopy on the porte cochere
Installed a new controller on the fuel tank to control the amount of fuel used for the
generator

Secured water fills with tension cables to prevent any water loss
Process of installing water efficient toilets in all apartments

Retrofitted 153 street lamps throughout community with new LED bulbs
The clubhouse and pool deck area light fixtures have also been changed out to LED's
Replaced over half of AC units with new higher rated energy efficient units
Upgraded 5 out of 15 lake fountains in community with new control systems and motors
that are more productive and use less electricity
Replaced 4 of the older heat pumps with new energy saving units
Employed an irrigation team to check and maintain the infrastructure of property in an
effort to conserve water
Installed rain sensors on irrigation system
Adjusted sprinkler time clocks to reduce run time
Provides a recycling program to residents to participate in
In efforts to conserve energy and water, landscaping company has upgraded the
landscaping around the clubhouse, installed artificial turf around the pool area.

Installed LED lighting in all stairways and in all common areas

Installed white silicone roofs which reflect the sun rays to save energy
Replaced all light fixtures with LED lights in all building, parking lot, and light poles
Replaced sprinkler system with a water saving system
Installed recycling bins in all buildings
Leak inspections in all units and replace bad toilets flappers for residents

Building and pool area: Storage room and pool room doors replaced
Exit and Emergency Lights replaced with LED lights in all buildings
New tile and LED lighting in all building elevators
Added new plants to landscaping for beatification of property
New pumps in elevators so they can run efficiently
Motion sensor LED lights in the back of pool area
Energy efficient hot water heaters for laundry rooms
Portsview at the Waterways Condominium
Installed LED light fixtures in ceiling
60 exterior light poles and flood lights have been replaced with LED lights
Loading dock air curtains have been installed to control air conditioned air in service
