MEETING MINUTES
FEBRUARY 10, 2017 — 3:00 p.m.

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 3:01 p.m. by Mr. Evans
Members present:

Selection of Chair and Vice Chair:
A motion to select Mr. Evans to serve as the Chair was offered by Ms. Kaplan,
seconded by Mrs. Lotterman, and unanimously passed.
A motion to select Ms. Kaplan to serve as the Vice Chair was offered by Mrs.
Lotterman, seconded by Mr. Evans, and unanimously passed.
II. Public Comment: None.
III. Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of the September 8,
2016 meeting was offered by Ms. Kaplan, seconded by Mrs. Lotterman, and
unanimously passed.
A motion to approve the minutes of the November 17, 2016 meeting was offered by Mr.
Evans, seconded by Ms. Kaplan, and unanimously passed.
Keview of 5unshme Law and Financial Disclosure Requirements: Mr.
Soroka explained the Sunshine Law as it pertains to Board members and Mrs. Horvath
reviewed the annual requirements for Financial Disclosure.
IV. Staff Reports:
• Arts and Crafts Festival: Mrs. Merchant reviewed the plans for the Arts,
Crafts, & All that Jazz event scheduled for March 11, 2017.

• Green Market Update Updates and Ride with Aventura Police Mrs.
Merchant provided updates on the Green Market, Ride with Aventura Police, movie
nights, and beautification applications.
The Board discussed ways of improving communication about events in the City.
Board members will notify Mrs. Merchant on their availability to volunteer at events.
The next meeting was scheduled for March 10, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.
V. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, a
motion to adjourn was offered by Mr. Evans, seconded by Ms. Superfine, and
unanimously passed; thereby adjourning the meeting at 3:39 p.m.

Replaced hundreds of light fixtures with energy efficient LED's
Currently in the process of replacing all parking garage and ground level lights
Installed sub -meters on several pieces of high amperage use equipment
Annually spending $150,000 on landscaping and beautification of property
Improvements made to several portions of the HVAC system, resulting in upgraded
ducts and more efficient air handlers
Facility wide education and renewed emphasis on recycling, resulting in an increase of
recycled waste from 10% to 15%
Aventura Optima Plaza
Installed lighting occupancy sensors and timers
Installed double glazing tinted glass
Installed high -efficiency HVAC and low -flow plumbing fixtures
Installed a solar water heater and solar panels generating 43,071 KWh annually
Rain water collected and used for irrigation
Installed electric car charging stations
Use of eco -friendly cleaning products and pest control
Provides recycling bins throughout
Bella Mare
Installed LED lighting in the parking garage
Added Ugmo sensors to irrigation
Applied a new 10 year silicone restoration coating system to the main roof

Gulfstream Pool Heat Pumps, new upgrade to electrical panels, and installation of LED
pole lighting around pool area.
New security cameras were installed in the parking lot, lobby, pool, and the elevators.
Separate recyclables and waste collection areas
Installation of plants in many areas to beautify the grounds

Installed LED light fixtures in corridors, garages, and other interior lighting areas
Process of upgrading all outdoor lighting, tennis courts, and street lighting to LED
Paperless memos replace printed documents
Plants throughout the property are being replaced with species requiring less frequent
watering

Installation of a dual port electric car charging station
Turnberry on the Green Condominium Association
Installed LED light fixtures throughout the entire property
Installed new playground surfacing made of 100% recycled materials
Notice to all residents of environmental awareness/education
Installed automatic flushers, water fixtures, paper towel dispensers, and soap
dispensers in all common area restrooms

Conservation practices for landscaping and irrigation
