JUDY SCOTT
Superlative is the word for singer JUDY SCOTT. Raised in Denver,Colorado,
Judy first appeared on television at fifteen and two years later starred in summer
stock in SOUTH PACIFIC. An engagement soon followed in the lounge at New
York's famous Copacabana where Jerry Lewis caught her performance, decided to
MAC her his protegee and immediately signed her to appear with him at the Sands
Hotel in Las Vegas and the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach. Audience response was
so great that he then featured her on his next television special. She went on to tour
major dubs throughout the United States and the world with Frank Sinatra, Don
Rickles, Bill Cosby,Jackie Mason, Shecky Greene and Robert Klein to name a few.
She was Buddy Hackett's opening act in Atlantic City and on the east coast for over
twenty years. Her career also includes television appearances with Johnny Carson
and Mery Griffin, records for RCA Victor and Decca and performances on
prominent cruise lines. In addition to her singing act, Judy wrote and has
performed her one-woman show SAY IT WITH MUSIC, a tribute to the life and
music of Irving Berlin,in theatres and cabarets around the country to rave reviews
and standing ovations. This acclaim led to her starring in the segment on Irving
Berlin in the MELODIFS & MEMORIES series that was recently presented at
Florida's new Aventura Performing Arts Center where she proudly serves on the
Board of Directors. A person of many gifts, she formerly joined forces with a
business partner and together they successfully ran a children's agency, theatre and
school managing over 300 children and young adults for movies,TV and Broadway.
But her lifelong love of performing propels her and now she looks forward to
upcoming concert engagements with symphony orchestras in Florida. The New
York Times summed it up best praising Judy as a "major talent, effervescent
personality and great pipes."

THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO A Ri
NSTIf VIE
CHICAGO
To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to offer this reference letter for Rina Gitlin Begun, former
Docent of the Art Institute of Chicago.Rina was a member of most recent class of
docents-in-training,and matriculated into the program in December 2013.While I
was very sad to see Rina move away from Chicago and our museum,I am pleased to
be able to support her move to another institution,as she has myriad talents and
skills to offer.
Entrance into the Art Institute's Docent Program is competitive. Rina was
selected from among 80 or so candidates to take her spot in this 30-person class.
Diversity was a goal of ours as we assembled this cohort, and Rina brought with her
not only a background in Art History but fluency in multiple languages and
experience living and working internationally. On top of that, she immediately
presented herself as warm, passionate about art and education, and a life-long
learner, the key ingredients for being a docent at this museum.
It may be helpful to understand the commitment entailed in being a
volunteer educator at the Art Institute to assess Rina's passion for and commitment
to this work. The first two semesters of docent training comprise twice-weekly
seminars (three hours each), in which we provide a foundation in:Art History
through the museum's collection, museum education pedagogy, research and
writing skills, and child development. In the third semester,docents-in-training
participate in a once-weekly seminar that extends these areas of inquiry and also
work with a veteran docent mentor to facilitate tours for K-12 student groups. Being
mentored entails a gradual release of responsibility, with the docent-in-training
taking on a more leading role in touring over time.In addition, class members
research objects in the collection and write.papers(comprised of research and
lesson plans). Despite the substantial time commitment and effort required to
complete the process,Rina—with a travelling husband,four children,and a life
outside the museum—committed fully to this course. I was consistently impressed
with her perseverance, thoughtfulness, and passion. In this work, she brought
together her academic interests with her nurturing character in ways that
heretofore I do not believe she thought were possible.
We were so pleased to have her matriculate into the Docent Program with
her classmates in December 2013 and to begin touring independently. After three
semesters,Rina had emerged as a skillful educator, with creative approaches to
works of art and an engaging manner that had her student groups immersed in
conversation. Imagine our dismay, however,in learning soon after that her family
needed to relocate to Florida! Such is life. Rina was only just beginning to fully
ill South Michigan Avenue Chicago,Illinois 60603 312.443 3600 www.artic.edu
realize all the hard work she had put into becoming a docent here. I am hopeful that
she will be able to find a place to deploy her talents in her new hometown.Whether
researching, working with the public,or fulfilling some other aspect of museum or
cultural work,Rina is well equipped to undertake the intellectual pursuit, work
collaboratively on a team, and engage people of all ages. She is warm, creative,
passionate educator, and I encourage you to consider her for a position within your
institution. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to learn more
about Rina.

DATE: November 9, 2015
SUBJECT: Partnership With North Miami Beach Little League Baseball
Recently, we were approached by the President of the North Miami Beach Little League
Baseball to merge the two cities' programs into one. Since the City obtained its charter
for Little League Baseball in 2009, we have seen a steady decline in registration due to
the rise in popularity of soccer.
In order to continue to provide a viable baseball program to the City's residents, it is
recommended that we pursue the partnership with North Miami Beach Little League.
The name of the league would be the North Miami Beach — Aventura Little League.
Provided there are no conflicts with other uses, our fields would be made available for
the program as well as North Miami Beach's fields.
I have placed this item on the Workshop Agenda to obtain consensus to move forward
on this matter.

SUBJECT: Biscayne Lake Gardens Service Corp.'s Request to Convey City
Roads Back to the Condominium Association
The President of Biscayne Lake Gardens Service Corp., which operates as a
Condominium Association for Biscayne Lake Gardens, has requested that the City
convey existing City roadways located within the development back to the
condominium. The following roadways are included in this request:
N.E. 29th Court
N.E. 201st Terrace
N.E. 27th Court
N.E. 203rd Street Frontage Road
A map of the roadways is attached. The principal reason for the request is to allow the
condominium to provide a more secure, private and safe development.
The roadways were transferred to the City in 1996 as part of the Interlocal Agreement
with the County, whereby all previous County roads were transferred to the City's
jurisdiction.
It is recommended that the City Commission authorize the City Administration to pursue
the request as it will improve safety to the Biscayne Lakes Garden Condominium and
reduce the City's maintenance costs in the future.
