COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD MEETING December 12, 2013 — 4:30 p.m. Government Center Executive Conference Room Aventura. Florida 33180 I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jonathan Evans. City Clerk Teresa M. Soroka called the roll. Members present: Marjorie E. Aloni Eric Berger Jonathan Evans Sandra L. Kaplan Denise Landman Joan Robbins Members Absent: Julie Shapiro II. Public Comment: None. III. Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of the September 11, 2013 meeting was offered by Ms. Robbins, seconded by Ms. Landman and unanimously passed. IV. Community Garden Project: Mr. Sherman advised the Board that eight applications had been received for the Community Garden Club Committee. Applicants to be interviewed by the Board at the next meeting in January, 2014. V. Green Market: Mr. Soroka advised that the City contracted with a firm to provide a Farmer's Market in the City each Sunday from 9 am — 2 pm beginning December 15, 2013 thru February 2014. Mr. Sherman distributed surveys for each member to complete after visiting the Farmer's Market. VI. Staff Update: Mr. Sherman discussed the recent Halloween event, Founders Day, girls soccer, youth basketball, Movie Night, adult trips /tours and new programming at the Community Recreation Center. He also discussed the results of a Focus Group meeting held to survey ten residents who attended Founders Day 2013 and gather their input/suggestions, many of which will be implemented at the 2014 event. VII. New Business: The next meeting was scheduled for January 23, 2014 at 3 p.m. VIII. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, after motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, the meeting was adjourned at 4:55 p.m. Approved by the Board on Teresa M. All entries shall be addressed to: "GO GREEN" Recognition Program, City of Aventura, 19200 West Country Club Drive, Aventura, FL 33180; and must be accompanied by a narrative (100 words max.) explaining the details of the applicant's efforts, including photos if desired, and signed by the applicant. Awards will be presented at the City's Go Green Symposium in the spring, and winners will also be recognized in the City Newsletter and website. Applications may be emailed to Robert M.
