I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by City Manager Eric M. Soroka.

After motion made by Ms. Pojomovsky, seconded and unanimously passed, Mr. Evans
was elected Chairperson. He then assumed those responsibilities.
II. Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of the December 6,
2012 meeting was offered by Mr. Evans, seconded by Ms. Pojomovsky and
unanimously passed.
III. New Board Members Orientation: City Attorney David M. Wolpin advised the
Board Members of the Government in the Sunshine Law, Financial Disclosure
requirements, and Ethics provisions of the City, County and State. Mr. Soroka
reviewed the role of the Board.
IV. Staff Reports: Community Services Department Director Robert M. Sherman
discussed the Schedule or Events, provided an overview of Community Services
Department activities and discussed the City's Go Green Symposium.
The next meeting was scheduled for March 13, 2013 at 4 p.m.
V. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, after
motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, the meeting was adjourned at
3:37 p.m.

at 11:00 a.m.

II. Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of the June 28, 2012
meeting was offered by Mr. Pyott, seconded by Mrs. Cohen and unanimously
passed.
III. Staff Reports: Community Services Department Director Robert M. Sherman
discussed the following: summer camp, youth sports programs, bus ridership,
flag football, Veterans Day, Founders Day, and Halloween program.
The next meeting was scheduled for December 6, 2012 at 11 a.m.
IV. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, after
motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, the meeting was adjourned at
11:22 a.m.

2013 GO GREEN APPLICANT SUMMARIES
2600 Island Boulevard
Higher number of native plant materials used.
Landscaping fixtures replaced with LED lights controlled by light sensors.
Upgraded irrigation systems using rain sensors, programmable clocks, and low volume nozzles.
In process of installing HVAC harvesting tank to recycle condensation water for chillers.

Pool Deck Renovation Project included:
Light fixtures replaced with LED with light sensors

Installation of rain sensors shut off devices, and low volume nozzles for sprinklers.

Installed energy star lights bulbs in all common area hallways; 300 fixtures in 20,000 sq. ft.
Replaced all lobby lighting with LED
Used low VOC paint in 20,000 sq. ft. of common area space in hallways.

Replaced light fixtures with CFL fixtures in hallways: over 5,400 watts per day.
Installed rain sensors for irrigation systems
Installed wind sensors on water fountains to shut down during periods of high winds.
Installed 200 shut off valves on individual heat pumps, reducing load when cooling is not necessary.
7000 Island Boulevard
Installed light sensors in trash rooms.
Installed 42 watt CFL in garage and landscaping replacing metal halide.
Recycling bins for paper, plastic, cans and glass in all trash rooms.
Installed EMS: frequency drives, A/C regulating valves, digital thermostats.
Environmentally friendly cleaning products and paper goods
Rain sensors for irrigation.
Newsletters sent to residents for environmental awareness.
Properly dispose of batteries
Keep all electronics out of the garbage as long as possible.
Properly dispose of light bulbs with Waste Management Lamp Tracker disposal system.

Installed new water towers in East Building saving $26,000 in water bills.
Changing from flowers to landscaping reducing water costs.
Improved beautification efforts.
Aventura Corporate Center
Repaired eroding shore line with pavers and retaining wall.
Replaced roofs in 2 buildings, qualifying for FPL energy savings incentive.
Changed elevators lights from halogen to LED.
Aventura Lakes
Maintaining the preserve on the east side of property adds beauty and is a natural habitat for wildlife.
Residents participate in recycling.
In the process of installing solar power lighting near the north entrance.
Committed to education programs to improve the natural environment of the community.

Using drought tolerant landscaping.
Using mulch to retain water.
Installed recycling on every floor trash room.
Replaced lamp post fixtures to 85 watt CFL bulbs.
Replaced walkway lights to 13 watt CFL fixtures.
