Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Jonathan Evans at 11:03 a.m. Members present: Ruthe Cohen Jonathan Evans Jaquelina Levy Hara Gary Pyott Julie Shapiro Members Absent: Julie Israel II. Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of the September 22, 2011 meeting was offered by Mr. Pyott, seconded by Mrs. Shapiro and unanimously passed. III. Staff Reports: Community Services Director Robert Sherman discussed the following: Founders Day, Halloween, Veterans Day, Winter Camp, Shuttle Bus Service, Girls' Soccer Basketball, Tree City USA, Senior Prom, Spring Camp, Go Green Recognition Program and Symposium. The next meeting was scheduled for March 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. IV. Changed metal halide with induction fixtures in garage. Installing Green Valve Technology airless water valve. Planning to build holding tank to harvest condensate water from cooling towers. Preparing specification to precondition all fresh air entering building, increasing A/c efficiency. 2800 Island Boulevard Upgraded ASI Energy Management System controls A/C temp on each floor. Changed metal halide with induction fixtures in garage. Installed low volume irrigation system by October 2012 feature smart clocks with moisture sensors. Planning to build holding tank to harvest condensate water from cooling towers. Expect completion in 2012. 3000 Island Boulevard Receptacles are in place to collect household batteries, the sent for proper disposal. All residents were notified. Receptacles in place to collect household fluorescent bulbs, then sent for proper disposal. Residents notified. Variable frequency drive was installed for the HVAC motor in cooling tower. This allows for motor to wind down when not in use and speed up depending on demand, using less power. 4000 Island Boulevard Converted lighting to 65 watt incandescent and 5 watt CFL for a total savings of 32,472 watts per day. Reduced irrigation watering time. Completed new piping bypassing underground fire sprinkler line leak saving 85,000 gallons of water per month Five energy efficient heat pumps have been installed. Automatic actuator valves installed to reduce demand on condenser water pumps for energy savings. 7000 Island Boulevard Installed light sensors in trash rooms. Installed 42 watt CFL in garage and landscaping replacing metal halide. Recycling bins for paper, plastic, cans and glass in all trash rooms. Installed EMS: frequency drives, A/C regulating valves, digital thermostats. Environmentally friendly cleaning products and paper goods Rain sensors for irrigation. Newsletters sent to residents for environmental awareness. Properly dispose of batteries Keep all electronics out of the garbage as long as possible. Aventura Hospital Started a hazardous waste reaction plan, providing up to five different types of recycling bins from Pharmacy waste to paper recycling, reducing total hazardous waste from 340,146 to 273,809 tons, a 19% reduction. Del Vista Towers Completed exterior lighting energy savings program, replacing bulbs with energy efficient bulbs and ballast. Most trees have bromeliads attached to trees and have Vanda Orchids growing. Landscaping composed of many varieties of flowers, plants and trees as well as pool deck planters. cactus, and bromeliads. Point East One Corporation Installed water savings shower heads. Planting only native plants. Using "Green Seal" products exclusively for cleaning buildings. All roofs of buildings have white protective coverings preventing damage from sun and rain. Point East Four Corporation Installed roof with white reflective coatings. Other three roofs were painted with white reflective coating. All common area lighting fixtures were changed to fluorescent fixtures reducing electrical consumption by 70% Keep recyclables and waste collection areas separate Point East Council Installed new flowers and mulch, reducing watering costs. Replaced light fixtures. Continuing to add landscape materials and mulch throughout the common areas. Portsview at the Waterways Replaced irrigation sprinklers with drip lines, reducing consumption by 30% Maintaining corridor temperatures at 77 degrees. Installed low energy lighting fixtures using timers and motion detector activators. Continuing use of internet and in- housie television channel to reduce paper flow. Turnberry on the Green Installed two 18 SEER water cooled 100 ton HVAC units, replacing 12 SEER units Installed new Energy Management Systems with mechanical systems. Installed variable frequency drive pump and fan motor drives. Installed new boiler control systems for water heater and pool /spa controls. Saves water and natural gas. Installed new LED lighting. Installed water savings upgrades: faucets for common area sinks and low volume flushing for toilets. Installed hand dryers replacing paper towel dispensers. Started recycling program and replaced landscaping with sustainable plants reducing irrigation. Estimate 50% total energy savings Villa Dorada No supporting documentation provided.
