What is the problem with
candy - flavored tobacco?
• Candy - flavored tobacco targets
new users, the majority of
which are kids.
• Studies show that 17- year -old
smokers are three times as
likely to use flavored cigarettes
as smokers over the age of 25.

Since our school's inception fourteen years ago, Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School has
established a tradition of honoring our students who make a tremendous impact on the
school and surrounding community. Because we have so many students deserving of
recognition, we continually strive to expand our award program.
One of our school's primary means of recognizing our amazing and hard working students is
through our end of the year undergraduate and senior awards ceremonies. All students are
encouraged to fill out an extensive four page awards application. Through this application
process, students write about their involvement in activities and athletics, leadership
positions, community service endeavors, special honors and awards, and most outstanding
contribution to our school. The applications are then evaluated by an eight member
committee, consisting of administrators and teachers from each of the main academic
disciplines. Each applicant receives a score for their academic achievement and each of the
criteria above, resulting in a maximum score of 50 points. The scores given to each applicant
by the committee members are then added, and the applicants are ranked from highest to
lowest. We then try to recognize as many of our students as possible with scholarships,
awards and honors given by school groups and community organizations.
The students at Dr. Michae# M. Krop Senior High School are truly amazing. The award
committee members are continually in awe of all they have accomplished in their young lives.
We would certainly welcome you partnering with us to recognize deserving Aventura
students.
Sincerely,
Dawn -
