COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Jonathan Evans
at 3 p.m.

Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of the September 23,
2010 meeting was offered by Mrs. Cohen, seconded by Mrs. Levy Hara and
unanimously passed.
III. Staff Reports: Community Services Director Robert Sherman provided an
update on recent special events, bus ridership, athletics programs, e- brochures,
installation of new playground equipment and tennis courts, Tree City USA
application for re- certification, Florida Green Building recertification and February
symposium. He distributed last year's application for the Go -Green Recognition
Program. No changes were made.
The next meeting was scheduled for March 10, 2011 at 3 p.m.
IV. Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, after
motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, the meeting was adjourned at
3:10 p.m.

2011 GO GREEN APPLICANT SUMMARIES
2600 Island Boulevard
Installed ASl Energy Managment System controls A/C temp on each floor.
Replacing metal halide with induction fixtures in garage.
Installing Green Valve Technology airless water valve.
Ordered engineering report to recycle A/C wast water.
2800 Island Boulevard
Installed ASI Energy Mgment System controls A/C temp on each floor.
All fresh air is now preconditioned increasing efficiency of all 264 A/C units in common area hallways.
Changing metal halide to induction fixtures in garage.
Installing Greev Valve Technology's airless water valve.
3000 Island Boulevard
Swtiched to green cleaning chemicals.
Hallways are being painted with green paint, using green dryall and mud.
timers with motion sensors installed in all trash rooms and common bathrooms.
Hallway thermostats replaced with programmable, and others were adjusted to a warmer temperature.
Adjusted fluorescent lighting in garage and stairwells.
Installed xeriscape landscaping.
Encourage and promote recycling.
7000 Island Boulevard
Installed light sensors in trash rooms.
Installed 42 watt CFL in garage and landscaping replacing metal halide.
Recycling bins for paper, plastic, cans and glass in all trash rooms.
Installed EMS: frequency drives, A/C regulating valves, digital thermostats.
Environmentally friendly cleaning products and paper goods
Rain sensors for irrigation.
Newsletters sent to residents for environmental awareness.
Aventura Corporate Center
Replaced A/C chiller with energy effiecient ones, saving 30% energy use
Replaced on roof with white TPO firestone, qualifying for FPL rebates.
Finished retrofit of all incandescent and halogen lights.
Established recycling program, up to 80%.
Aventura Hospital
Limit watering lawns to twice per week. Using native plants wherever possible.
Replaced diesel fuel stgorage with a dual wall unit
Implemented a pharmaceutical wast program, guranteeing that non hazardous waste is disposed of properly.
Reduced paper usage by over 5 million sheets and recycled 43 tons of old documents, saving about 1,000 trees.
Purchased of uniforms made of cloth produced from recycled aluminum.
400 Ibs of plastic per month is recycled.
Biscava 111
Mulching at appropriate times to ensure retention of water for flower beds and trees.
Planting and maintaining vegetation and flowers (native rather than annuals) that require less irrigation.
Adding 36 native and flowering trees and busesh: dwarf firebush, silver and green buttonwoods, golden flower
and pink trumpet trees.
Portsview at the Waterways
Replaced irrigation sprinklers with drip lines, reducing consumption by 30%
Replaced annuals with perennials, eliminating need for changeouts.
Replaced incandescent bulbs with CFL.
Replaced common area A/C with high efficiency units.
Increasing use of website and inernet to reduce paper flow.
Villa Dorada
Replaced common area lights to fluorescent lighting.
Made changes to sprinkler system to make sure water is sufficient but never in excess.
Instituted recvcling program for residents to dispose trash in proper recvcling containers.
Williams Island POA
Provide recycling bins in restaurants, tennis and spa for employee use.
Provide seminars for employees to learn how to separate waste products.
Single stream recvcling
Recycles all ballasts, batteries and lightbulbs.
Recycle ink and toner
Old computers, printers, montiors and N sets are recycled.
Electronic payroll and invoices
Printed material is re -used.
Landscape contractor uses low decibel and fuel efficient power equipment.
Grass clippings and tree trimmings are ground into mulch
All light bulbs are CFL
Using organic chemicals, and only in affected areas.
Replacing A/C units with energy efficient units.
Planting native plants and palms trees.
