II. ADDroval of Minutes: A motion to approve the January 14, 2010 meeting minutes was offered by Ms. Simmons, seconded by Ms. Bloom and unanimously passed. III.PACA ReDOrts. Department Director Steve Clark and PACA representative Shelly Bradshaw discussed the proposed programming, and provided an update on the October 23, 2010 opening gala. PACA representatives Nicole Robinson and Melania Mendez discussing fundraising etiquette and sponsorship opportunities. IV. City Manaaer ReDorts: City Manager Eric Soroka advised the Board that construction of the facility is on schedule and to date $15,000 has been received for bricks/walls. V. Other Business: Next Board meeting scheduled for March 16, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. VI. Adiournment: There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, after motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, the meeting adjourned at 11 :30 a.m. Teresa M. 'SUN FLOWER' THE LIFE AND LOVES OF ELIZABETH CADY STANTON written and performed by Elizabeth Perry a play in two acts with a ten minute intermission Elizabeth Perrv (ActorlPlaywright) began her career with a Mary MacArthur Award Scholarship to the American Theatre Wing presented by Fint Lady of the American Stage, Helen Hayes, and her husband, playwright, Charles MacArthur. At a young age she appeared on Broadway with Paul Muni and Ed Begley in Inherit the Wind, Lawrence and Lee's famous drama based on the Scope's triaL Off Broadway she was Polly Peachum in The Three Penny Opera, created the role of Catherine Howard in Royal Gambit, and regionally played Allison in Look .Back in Anger and Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof before going to Hollywood, where she starred in numerous TV classics such as Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and Outer Limits, as well as in the West Coast premieres of The Balcony, The Collection, and Touch of the Poet On her return to New York, she was a leading lady with the APA- Phoenix Repertory at New York's Lyceum Theatre. Under the artistic direction of Ellis Rabb and Jack O'Brien, she played Lady Macbeth, The Player Queen in Hamlet, Eliante in The Misanthrope, Verenanda in Chronicles of Hell, The Little Queen in The King Dies, and Woman in Beckett's Play. On Broadway, Ms. Perry played opposite George C. Scott in the hit revival of Present Laughter, in 84 Charing Cross Road with EDen Buntyn, the all-star production of The Women, and was Elsa Von Grossen-Kneuten in The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. Off-Broadway she played in Isn't it Romantic, A Perfect Ganesh, Coastal Disturbances, The Chairs, and Fefu and Her Friends, among many other outstanding productions. Her regional credits include Painting Churches, The Subject Was Roses, Midsummer Night's Dream, The Farm, Peer Gynt, Glass Menagerie, Steel Magnolias, and On Golden Pond. On television she has played major roles on Kate and Allie, Another World, As the World Turns, and was Michael Learned's best friend on the series, Nurse. Ms. Perry's films include Taps with George C. Scott and Tom Cruise, Seize the Day with Robin Williams, and co-starred with Paul Guilfoyle in the PBS film, MacDowell's Ride. Ms. Perry is a well-known theatrical coach and co-founder with the late Robert Elston ofthe American Renaissance Theater Company. 'Sun Flower', which grew out of its fertile soil, debuted in Johnstown, New York at the invitation of its Historical S~iety. Since then it has played countless venues including the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, the U.S. Senate Building, Governor Pataki's Economic Summit for Young Women, and the Washington Arena's Old Vat Theatre. In New York city it ran at the Houseman Studio Theatre. It was a feature presentation at the 150tll Anniversary of Women's Rights in Seneca Falls, and at the invitation of The White House, for the Millenium Celebration in Washington, DC. Elizabeth Perry has appeared as Mrs. Stanton on CNN, CNBC, NYl, CSPAN and Lianne Hansen's WeekEnd Edition on NPR. She has played Elizabeth Cady Stanton from Palm Springs to Alabama. She has even played Vegas (without spangles) and Carnegie Hall (in West Virginia). PHILIP ROSE (Ms. Perry's Executive ProducerlManager) made his Broadway producing debut with Lorraine Hansberry's play, A Raisin in the Sun, starring Sidney Poitier which won the Drama Critics Award. He also produced the film. He has been involved as director, producer and/or author of many Broadway plays including The Owl and the Pussycat, Purlie Victorious, and Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? Among his musical productions are Purlie for which he received three Tony's (director, producer, and co-author) and Shenandoah which received six Nominations and two Tony Awards. He directed the TV production of Purlie, receiving the ACE and Silver Awards from the International Film and TV Festival of New York.. After directing in numerous NY and Regional venues, Anita relocated with her husband, actor Eddie Jones, to LA. There in her busy career she has reaped two Dramalogue and LA Critics Circle Awards for her direction at the Interact Theater Company where she established a Play Development Lab. Recently she directed "Death of a Salesman" in Los Angeles starring Mr. Jones to wide critical acclaim. She has directed plays and conducted workshops internatioRally, and has served on the performance faculty of California Institute of the Arts. Elizabeth Cady StaRton was born in 181S and married the famous abolitionist, Henry Brewster Stanton in 1841. While raising seven children, she was a fledgling journalist for Amelia Bloomer's 'The Lily' under the pseudonym "Sun Flower" and a full-fledged journalist under her own name for Horace Greeley's 'New York Tribune'. Mrs. Stanton delivered 'The Declaration of Sentiments', protesting the abuse of women at the Seneca FaDs Convention in 1848. She was the mentor to Susan B. Anthony, with whom she formed a lasting partnership for the recognition of women's rights, the consequence of which resonates into the twentieth century. She died in 1902 never having achieved her dream of suffrage for women. The eighteenth amendment granting women their inalienable right to vote was finally ratified in 1920 by one crucial vote.
